Tucson Maidens of Metal is the brainchild of founder Kristi Black. The idea came up in conversation with friend/co-founder Brandi McGrath in 2013. The goal in mind was to help support the local metal music community they love so much by forming a group of ladies who could promote bands and their upcoming shows. They also offer the option of fundraising for bands who may need money for recording, tour, merchandise, etc. In June 2014 the idea sprung to life, local metal ladies started taking interest! But it was the decision in December 2014 to put out an all local metal band calendar that really propelled TMM into the spotlight. It showed Tucson that this kick ass group of women were serious, they were here to stay! Sponsored by local businesses (The Rock, Divine Tattoo) the 2015 calendars feature 12 Maidens representing 12 local bands. Since then the group has has many opportunities for growth and expansion- Including a Rock 102.1 KFMA radio spot with Shmonty and Carolina, putting together a burlesque inspired performance show, hosting Local Love Fest at The Rialto Theater, and Emceeing local bands CD release shows. They spent the last few months of 2015 putting together this years calendar, all shot by Gonzo Photoz! Many people inquire about what Maidens do and what it takes- it takes dedication. It requires a love for local music, online/hand-to-hand/word of mouth promoting, buying tickets from bands, and going to shows. But the main requirement is to be yourself, come as you are. They are NOT a modeling agency, they are normal gals- the friends, fans and family of local bands and musicians. You are encouraged to come out to a show and meet your Tucson Maidens of Metal- Kristi, Brandi, Karina, Samantha, Serena, Michelle, Torch, Krissa, Kelsey, Jessica Marie, Bree, Emily, Kaci, Justice and Delia!
